My research focuses on individual, household, and community preparation and recovery from disasters. I've studied Hurricanes Katrina, Sandy, Harvey, Florence, and Laura, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, the 2013 Moore Oklahoma tornadoes, and the Camp Fire among other disasters and public health emergencies. My expertise is in food environment disruption and food insecurity following disasters. 

From 2018-2020, I conducted a longitudinal study of food environment disruption following Hurricane Florence in North Carolina as an Early Career Research Fellow with the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Gulf Research Program. In 2021, I was awarded NSF CAREER and Convergence Accelerator awards focused on bolstering food system resilience to disasters. 

I hold a PhD in Disaster Science and Management from University of Delaware and a Master of Public Health from Drexel University.
