Service to the Profession & Community
Currently, I serve as Co-Chair for the HER NOPREN COVID-19 Food and Nutrition Working Group. This group was established at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic as researchers, advocacy groups, policy makers, community-based groups were all mobilizing to respond to the rapid changes in the food environment - especially the closing of schools where many children in the US receive two meals per day. After one year focused on the immediate response, the group was formalized as a standing working group and we are now looking forward to building resilience and preparing our communities for future disruptions like the pandemic or other disasters like the growing number of severe wildfires, hurricanes, and tornados.
I serve as an Editorial Panel Member of the Journal of Flood Risk Management (Wiley) and on the Awards Committee of the Interdisciplinary Association of Population Health Science (IAPHS). Prior to relocating to Baltimore in Summer 2021, I served on the Board of Erie Niagara Area Health Education Center (EN-AHEC) as Secretary.
